From The Field: Mandarins – September 7, 2021
WHAT OUR GROWERS ARE SAYING FROM…
URUGUAY.
“We are now packing Murcotts” – Citricola Saltena
Chile.
“We are packing the last mandarins. Fruit looks really good.” – Exportadora Calafate
Morocco.
“As usual, August is the hottest month in Morocco. During this month we had a heat wave with a significant increase in temperatures that exceeded monthly normal temperatures by 3 to 12 degrees, especially in the south and east of Morocco. In term of volume, compared to the previous campaign the increase is still maintained with a slowdown in the growth of size due to the heat wave in August. We expect to start picking with small quantities around the third week of September.” – M’Brouka

Murcotts, Tangos, Orris
VARIETIES WE WILL BE SHIPPING SOON
Murcotts, Tangos, Orris
Our Outlook
Supply of imported Mandarins are very tight this week, with delays in discharge of ships making the situation even more challenging. Chilean W. Murcotts harvest delays meaning supplies should continue to be tight throughout most of if not all of September. We do encourage Mandarin promotions for October, which should match with the peak of the Chilean supply window.
