WHAT OUR GROWERS ARE SAYING
FROM COQUIMBO, CHILE:
“This is the 3rd and last week of harvest for this grower. It is a full color cluster with 20-21 brix. Everything over 19mm and very good eating. Next week, the grower will start with post harvest tasks such as fertilization and irrigation so the plant recovers after fruit production and before leaf senescence.” – Agricom Ltda.
FROM VALPARAISO, CHILE:
“This week we only packed Crimsons. Clusters are healthy and in great shape. Next week we hope to pack Thompson Seedless grapes from Metropolitan Region.” – Exportadora Quintay

“Last bunch of Thompsons being harvested. Looks in good shape, very sweet and with great size.” – Agroindustrias Quilaco

OUR OUTLOOK
Although volumes are down year over year, mainly due to the rains, sales movement has slowed down due to a lack of retail promotions and the market has plateaued for now. The first Chilean “storage” Thompson will begin arriving with light volumes later this week. We expect to see storage Thompson volumes to be reduced in the neighborhood of 60-70%, so supplies will tighten with every passing week.

OUR OUTLOOK
Recent industry arrival volumes and promotional activity these past few weeks have been trending similarly with last season. It appears that there will be enough supply to require promotions through March, if not into early April. However, with global volumes reduced due to rains, we expect that the harvest will end earlier than last season, leading to a stronger market in the second half of April and early May.
