FROM ICA, PERU:

“For Flames, harvesting has concluded. For Crimson, it is in full growth of berries and continuing to take color. This week was the third and final lighting. Sizing is around 19 mm average. For Superior, the cluster arrangement has been completed, to have a uniform and loose cluster, avoiding compact cluster and health problems. A good caliber is being achieved in this variety, it is at 23 mm size and 14.5 brix.” – Agricola Miranda

Import supplies are increasing, but demand has improved as well. We are projecting mostly steady market conditions. Worker strikes in Peru, mainly Ica, have started again but we are hopeful for a quick resolution.

Arrivals are gradually increasing throughout December, but Peru has been sending slightly more greens than reds to this market the past several weeks. This has helped keep inventories of each color mostly in balance.
