OUR OUTLOOK

Brazilian greens have been arriving to the U.S. market with good quality and condition, and will continue for the next few weeks before giving way exclusively to Peru and Chile. The Peruvian green grape harvest has been progressing normally, and arrivals should gradually increase in January. The biggest bottleneck, creating short term tightness in the market, are lengthy delays in containers getting released and delivered to cold storages in a timely manner. Furthermore, due to limited supply of reefers, many are using shipping lines with longer transit times. The early Chilean grapes are reportedly 10-15 days delayed versus normal, so we won’t see big volume of Chilean greens before late January. We do have our first Chilean greens discharging in Philadelphia this week, but none will be packed in SUNRAYS®.

OUR OUTLOOK

While Peruvian arrivals of red seedless will slowly grow over the next few weeks, overall industry supplies will be EXTREMELY TIGHT for the next couple of weeks, due to the California deal finishing early and Chile not being much of a factor until February. The same logistical issues facing green grapes are currently being dealt with on red grapes. We expect strong market conditions on red throughout January, with heavier Southern Hemisphere volumes hitting in February.
